Series 2 Episode 3 DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland The Costello Family

As Proud Plant Partners of the DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland, Glanbia CountryLife is extremely honoured to have worked hand in hand with the shows garden designer, Peter Donegan, to help create this colourful garden for the Parsons family. Peter was faced with another challenge this episode, naming this one of the most complex and trickiest gardens he has worked on; but once again he was more than up for the challenge! Peter’s design included a bespoke built handmade castle that was complimented with a selection of low maintenance plants such as roses and hydrangeas. With this same creative genius continuing throughout the garden, to include spinning turning sections so Laura’s wheelchair could effortlessly turn on the patio.

Here we share the garden design, as imagined by show Garden Designer Peter Donegan, and the planting list, as selected in partnership with Glanbia CountryLife Horticulturist Fergal Joy.

Garden Design:

Window in sitting room looking out at full planted area of hydrangeas and grasses to give the room an added pop of colour and lift.
Acer and betula trees were added to the garden for height and maturity.
